8/29/2003 - IDTTM (Integrated Device Technology, Inc.; Nasdaq: IDTI), a leading communications IC company, expanded its portfolio of industry-leading InterpriseTM processors with the introduction of the enhanced InterpriseTM RC32T332 and RC32T333 integrated communications processors. The new InterpriseTM processors complement the existing family of highly competitive PCI-based integrated processors and offer significant power reduction for additional design flexibility. Additionally, the new devices build upon proven technology to enable the next-generation of Ethernet switching and 802.11g wireless access point designs to be delivered at a compelling new price point.
“We are pleased to broaden our robust portfolio of integrated processors that target Ethernet switching, small and medium enterprise (SME) gateways, small office home office (SOHO)/residential gateways, wireless access points and firewall/VPN appliances,” said Matt Jones, marketing manager for the Internetworking Products Division at IDT. “Our family of InterpriseTM processors addresses the full range of performance points, from the low-cost RC32332 InterpriseTM processor to the high-performance RC32438 InterpriseTM processor. The enhanced RC32T332 and RC32T333 integrated communications processors establish a new price point within the IDT InterpriseTM family and enable designers to take advantage of our established processor technology for their next generations of cost-sensitive designs.”
Key Features Enable New Price Point for Cost-Sensitive Applications
The RC32T332 and RC32T333 InterpriseTM integrated communications processors are based upon a 32-bit MIPS® CPU core that operates up to 150 MHz. The enhanced processors feature a 2.5-volt supply voltage that allows design flexibility in implementations with limited power budgets. Additionally, the devices include a peripheral component interconnect (PCI) bus, enabling low-cost connectivity to up to three off-the-shelf PCI peripherals, as well as a SDRAM controller to utilize cost-effective memory configurations.
The RC32T332 and RC32T333 InterpriseTM processors are compatible with a range of real-time operating systems, including Linux® from a host of suppliers, including IDT and MontaVista Software, and VxWorks® from Wind River. The enhanced devices are also compatible with the other members of the InterpriseTM family, allowing customers to choose from a suite of proven off-the-shelf application software and development tools that shorten design cycles and speed time to market.
