8/28/2003 - On September 3, Xilinx (NASDAQ: XLNX) and its partners will commence the Programmable World Workshops series which includes technical training from Agilent, Cadence, IBM and Xilinx as well as Texas Instruments, Wind River Systems, The MathWorks, Mentor Graphics, Synplicity, Synopsys, Intel, Celoxica, Nallatech, and Altium. Scheduled in over 20 cities throughout North America, Europe, Japan, and Asia Pacific September through November, the Programmable World Workshops will deliver training from the biggest names in the EDA and semiconductor industries.
Programmable World Workshop Technical Training
The first Programmable World 2003 workshop will take place at Xilinx Headquarters in San Jose, CA on September 3, 2003. The workshops will consist of four technical tracks and will include the following topics:
Designing Flexible and High-Performance DSP Systems
Design scenarios will be used in this track to illustrate the independent usage of DSP processors or Platform FPGAs, and the conditions under which it makes sense to combine the unique signal processing capabilities of both. Attendees will also learn how industry leading DSP solution providers like Texas Instruments, Xilinx, The MathWorks, and Nallatech are working together to help designers outsmart Moore's Law and dramatically reduce the development time and cost of high performance DSP systems.
Integrating High Performance Embedded Processing Solutions
Xilinx innovates in the programmable system domain by integrating embedded hard PowerPC cores and MicroBlazeTM soft processor cores, customizable IP, DSP functionality, multi-gigabit serial transceivers and FPGA logic into a single programmable platform. Attendees will be presented with leading edge solutions from Xilinx that will help solve challenges that face traditional embedded solutions while reducing overall system costs. Attendees will also learn how IBM, Wind River Systems, and Altium in addition to Xilinx offer embedded designers access to technology that will give an edge in the market.
Implementing Cost-Effective Connectivity Solutions
In this track attendees will learn about FPGA-based solutions that solve the challenges of integrating ASSPs, network processors, and memory devices into viable solutions. Issues such as standards compliance, bridging between different interface technologies, and parallel-to-serial connectivity will be covered. This track will include technical sessions from Cadence, Intel, and Xilinx highlighting solutions for low-cost connectivity applications.
Effective System Design for Programmable Systems
FPGAs offer a variety of flexible and powerful capabilities that have propelled the programmable device to being a true "system platform". In this track, attendees will learn about a wide-range of design solutions including integrated real-time verification, high performance physical synthesis, high-speed timing optimization, and high-level language abstraction. Agilent, Mentor Graphics, Synplicity, Synopsys, Celoxica, and Xilinx will deliver information on how to get the most performance out of system designs.
