8/27/2003 - Phoenix Technologies Ltd. (Nasdaq: PTEC), the company driving the global core system software standard in hundreds of millions of PC systems and connected digital devices for over two decades, announced a distribution agreement with D&H Distributing, one of the largest wholesale distributors of computer and peripheral products to resellers and solution providers nationwide. D&H manufacturer customers, who include system builders delivering "white box" and branded PCs, will now be able to purchase Phoenix Core Managed EnvironmentTM (cME), and the Phoenix FirstWareTM family of applications directly from D&H. Through this program, D&H will offer its system builder customers innovative solutions with free sales support and training in conjunction with Phoenix cME.
D&H has a well earned reputation for developing successful programs in the system builder, white box and SMB markets, working closely with vendors to create programs according to the distributor's expertise in this growing sector. By partnering with Phoenix Technologies to distribute Phoenix cME and the Phoenix FirstWare family of applications, D&H is offering industry-leading core system software to its system builder customers at a competitive price and with additional incentives. This allows D&H to incorporate differentiate and high-value added solutions into the systems they assemble and the markets they serve.
"For over 85 years, D&H has been able to partner with vendors who are on the leading edge of technology, and we are pleased to work with a continuously innovative company like Phoenix Technologies. Our growth in the marketplace comes from providing our customers the products they need to be successful, and the momentum Phoenix has experienced shows a clear demand for Phoenix cME and Phoenix FirstWare among systems builders," said Michael Schwab, Vice President of Purchasing for D&H Distributing Company.
"This agreement will greatly benefit systems builders is the US. The relationship between D&H and Phoenix Technologies is important for the systems builder industry because it will provide customers direct access to Phoenix solutions, helping them grow their businesses and deliver products with differentiated value," said Robert Danese, Executive Director of NASBA. NASBA, an association of system builders, VARs and integrators, is a professional trade organization servicing 23,000 North American channel resellers.
Phoenix has focused on expanding its presence in the system builder channel, which according to IDC accounts for about 33% of worldwide PC sales. Due to Phoenix's attention to this channel, system builders worldwide are quickly adopting the Phoenix Core Managed Environment platform, announced earlier this year.
D&H will enhance the Phoenix cME offering with system builder program benefits that include:
"Given its recognition as a technology distribution leader, D&H's choice to distribute Phoenix cME and the Phoenix FirstWare applications provides tremendous validation of the value of the solution. D&H has a long history of not only providing systems builders with the most advanced products on the market, but also developing bundles and program incentives that enhance the overall value of the solutions system builders offer to their customers," said Timothy D. Eades, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Corporate Marketing and Product Division for Phoenix.
