8/26/2003 - With the expansion of the worldwide market for wireless connectivity devices, and in particular from the emerging Asian OEMs, XEMICS, a leader in short range wireless connectivity solutions, has selected to partner with UTAC for the realization of its XE1200 family of transceivers. The XE1200 series is a family of short-range, ultra low-power, wireless data-communication transceivers. The product family covers a number of license free ISM bands ranging from 30kHz to 1GHz, ideally suited for applications such as remote sensing and metering, wireless security, digital voice communication and home automation.
"We realize the importance of providing innovative and miniaturized solutions for this emerging market, with the required economy of scale to support fast production ramps", said Albert Ng, UTAC Worldwide Sales and Marketing VP, "and I believe that UTAC's focused leadership in the assembly and test of wireless RF and SiP products has been one of the winning proposition for gaining XEMICS as one of our reference customers".
UTAC has been working with XEMICS design and product engineering team since the initial product design phases and contributed to the release of the production test program optimized for the target test platform with high yield performance. The package design team at UTAC contributed to the design of the package characteristics to enable minimal yield loss in the routing of the multi-die internal interconnections, while XEMICS provided the product ownership and financial support for the production ramp up.
"Working with UTAC has been quite a significant experience for our design and product engineers, said Serge Girardin, WW Operations VP at XEMICS." For a fab-less company like XEMICS, it is fundamental that we keep our competitive edge in the product design innovation, while relying on a dependable partner for the realization of its products to market processes."
