8/21/2003 - The Titan Corporation (NYSE: TTN) announced that it has been awarded two separate contracts from the U.S. Navy Naval Undersea Warfare Center, headquartered in Newport, Rhode Island, having a combined potential value in excess of $34 million.
"Titan's outstanding performance with its established customers has resulted in an exceptional record for sustaining and retaining its business base," said Gene Ray, Titan's president, chairman, and CEO. "For recompetes and follow-on work to existing contracts, we have re-won as the incumbent in excess of 95 percent of the awards. These two Undersea Warfare Center Awards are meaningful examples of our strategy to win our recompetes, while pursuing, bidding, and winning larger procurements."
Having a potential value of $22,914,557, the first five-year indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity (ID/IQ) contract calls for Titan to provide for engineering, operation, and maintenance services for the Technology Center for Cable and Connectors (TC3) facility in Newport. In addition to operating and maintaining the Newport facility, the contractís primary point of performance, Titan will augment the TC3 effort with company facilities in Norfolk, Va. Titan has received and maintains an ISO 9001:2000 certified Quality Management System for both facilities.
The second Naval Undersea Warfare Center award was an $11,556,228, five-year contract to provide Engineering and Logistics Support Services for the U.S. Navyís Module Test and Repair (MTR) program. Under this contract Titan will provide critical program support for Analysis Repair and Training of all DoD branches and the Coast Guard for equipment and systems, ship and shore-based, containing electronic circuit card assemblies, electronic modules and/or printed circuit cards. Additionally, Titan will develop and deploy standardized analysis test stations throughout DoD activities and develop program training materials and provide training to test and fleet personnel. The work on this contract will be performed in Norfolk, Va.
Both contracts were competitive procurements awarded to Titan based on best value to the government by evaluation of Technical Capability and Cost proposals.
