7/29/2003 - Magma Design Automation Inc. (Nasdaq: LAVA), a provider of chip design solutions, announced that Wipro Technologies Limited (NYSE:WIT), will add Blast FusionTM to its integrated circuit (IC) design implementation flow.
"Magma has developed a fully integrated tool suite that can be used from RTL through GDSII. As we move toward designs of higher complexity in state-of-the-art nanometer process technologies, we need a design environment that addresses the challenges of timing closure and physical design optimization while providing a collaborative and user-friendly environment," said Vasudevan Aghoramoorthy, vice president of VLSI/System Design at Wipro Technologies. "Blast Fusion was rigorously evaluated, and we were impressed with the results of our trial."
Wipro's evaluation took a complex design from register transfer level (RTL) to GDSII. The design function was a high-speed, scaleable SoC-based platform incorporating various third-party IP blocks. Correlation of timing, design rule checks (DRC) and antenna design results were verified using industry-standard analysis software. All evaluations were done using twin Linux servers. Wipro cited several of Blast Fusion's strengths as influencing its decision, including library qualification, preplacement optimization, floorplanning and power planning, high-quality optimization, clocktree synthesis and final routing, optimization and verification.
"Wipro Technologies has a reputation of excellence with quality products and exceptional services," said Lung Chu, Magma vice president of Asia-Pacific Operations. "We're pleased one of India's most respected companies has selected Magma for its nanometer designs."
Wipro Technologies will be presenting at the Magma NanoTech Symposium in Bangalore, India July 29th. To register to attend, visit www.magma-da.com/events.html.

About Magma Design Automation
Magma software is used to design fast, multimillion-gate integrated circuits, providing "The Fastest Path from RTL to Silicon"TM and enabling chip designers to reduce the time required to produce complex ICs. Magma's ASIC products for prototyping, synthesis, and place & route provide a single executable for RTL-to-GDSII chip design. The company's Blast Create TM, Blast FusionTM, Blast Fusion APXTM, Blast PlanTM, Blast Noise®, Blast RailTM and Blast RTLTM products utilize Magma's patented FixedTiming® methodology and single data model architecture to reduce the timing-closure iterations often required between the logic and physical processes in conventional IC design flows. Magma also provides PALACETM and ArchEvaluatorTM advanced physical synthesis and architecture development tools for programmable logic devices (PLDs).
Magma maintains headquarters in Cupertino, Calif., as well as facilities in Los Angeles, Orange County and San Diego, Calif.; Boston, Mass.; Durham, N.C.; Austin and Dallas, Texas; Newcastle, Wash.; and in Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Israel, Japan, Korea, the Netherlands, Taiwan and the United Kingdom.
