7/25/2003 - SDI (Strategic Distribution, Inc. - Nasdaq:STRD), a leading provider of maintenance, repair, and operating (MRO) supply chain management services, has announced an agreement with Dexterra, Inc., a global supplier of enterprise mobile applications, for Dexterra to provide the company with its Dexterra Mobility Platform(tm). SDI has selected Dexterra to mobile-enable its In-Site® system technology offering for its customers, further strengthening SDI's position as a leader in providing MRO supply chain solutions.
"SDI's mobile work order management application is designed to give a company's management more control and visibility over a mobile workforce through low-risk, non-intrusive integration and simultaneous connection with multiple back office enterprise systems." said Don Woodring, president and CEO of SDI. "SDI has differentiated itself in the market by providing excellent outsourced supply chain services as well as proven technologies for increasing the value of our services. Mobility is the next step in extending the demonstrated value of our technology by creating a mobile integrated supply chain for our customers. Dexterra's technology will allow us to achieve this for our customers."
Dexterra Mobility Platform takes advantage of industry-standard XML Web services, Microsoft® .NET, and Dexterra patent-pending innovations without compromising existing investments in CRM, ERP, and legacy enterprise systems. Information is protected with up to four levels of security - encryption, authentication, application security, and information security.
"SDI's selection of Dexterra reinforces the value in our solution," said Rob Loughan, CEO of Dexterra. "Our suite of field force automation applications is flexible enough to adapt to SDI's outsourced MRO business model, yet has the industrial-strength technology infrastructure to connect SDI's In-Site® system with the variety of systems we will encounter at each of the SDI customer sites."
SDI and Dexterra will be deploying the mobile-enabled version of In-Site, as In-Site® Mobile, to new and existing SDI customers in the industrial, education, and other markets served by SDI.
SDI helps customers optimize their business performance and meet strategic goals by providing technology and supply chain solutions to increase productivity and reduce total costs. Commercial and industrial customers, as well as educational institutions, benefit from reduced costs and increased efficiencies in the procurement and management of maintenance, repair, and operating (MRO) materials.
