Agilent Streamlines Test Integration for 300 mm Wafer Fabs

7/17/2003 - Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: A) announced the latest version of the Semiconductor Process Evaluation Core Software - Factory Automation (SPECS-FA) for the Agilent 4070|300 parametric test solution. Building on its industry-leading reliability and performance, SPECS-FA 3.0 reduces the time to achieve fully automated, high-yield wafer parametric test in 300 mm fabrication facilities.

"SPECS-FA is fast becoming the de facto standard for 300 mm wafer manufacturers around the globe," said Kenzo Ishiguro, business manager of Agilent's Hachioji Semiconductor Test Division. "SPECS-FA 3.0, which supports all SEMI standards for 300mm, provides our customers with quick, consistent, accurate, highly automated test solutions, while increasing yields."

Optimized for automated factory environments, SPECS-FA 3.0 is the first to support all the SEMI standards required for 300 mm fabs, including E5 (SECS-II), E30 (GEM), E87 (Carrier Management), E40 (Process Jobs) and E94 (Control Jobs). These interfaces enhance communication between the host computer or database server and the wafer prober and handler. As a result, SPECS-FA 3.0 helps reduce the cost of test by decreasing the time required to integrate the 4070|300 into the overall 300 mm factory environment.

SPECS-FA 3.0 also provides optimized Adaptive Test based on the SEMI standards, which intelligently manages the test sequence to support more variable test flows and conditions at run-time. Now, test engineers can easily leverage Adaptive Test's powerful capabilities, for example, to automatically halt the test sequence, analyze details, and change the test program if a wafer does not meet expected test conditions. This can be done without unloading and reloading the wafer being tested.
