7/16/2003 - Lantronix®, Inc. (Nasdaq: LTRX) proudly announced that its XPortTM embedded device server was honored with the prestigious “Electron d’Or” (Golden Electron) award, the top technology award in France. Sponsored by Electronique magazine, a Groupe Tests Publication, the “Electron d’Or” award is given to the best product of the year as determined by a jury of industry experts and users. Lantronix’ XPort product was a unanimous choice in the sub-system category.
Smaller than the average person’s thumb, the XPort embedded device server targets manufacturers and design engineers who want to quickly add network connectivity to their products. Completely enclosed in an RJ45 package, the XPort provides a complete, integrated solution that includes a 10Base-T / 100Base-TX Ethernet connection, a reliable and proven operating system, an embedded Web server, flexible firmware, a full TCP/IP protocol stack, email alerts and optional 256-bit standards-based (AES) encryption to provide networking capabilities to virtually any serial device.
“The ‘Electron d’Or’ award recognizes true innovation in technology, especially products that our selection jury feels will have a significant impact on the market and future applications,” said Philippe Schwartz, editor-in-chief at Electronique. “The XPort’s innovative RJ45 package design truly differentiated the product from other entries. On top of that, our selection jury were impressed with Lantronix’ unique ability to integrate an embedded Web server as well as a rich, complete feature set into the compact RJ45 form factor.”
“Lantronix is very honored to win the prestigious ‘Electron d’Or’ and appreciates the award’s recognition of true technology innovation and leadership,” said Geoffrey Boyce, executive vice president of marketing at Lantronix. “The XPort is already having an impact on future applications in a wide range of industries by enabling manufacturers and design engineers to integrate network connectivity into their products in a matter of weeks versus months.” According to Boyce, with thousands of XPort Development Kits in the field and dozens of real-world designs already completed, the XPort has led to multiple customer wins for Lantronix and should contribute to our growth in the next year and beyond.
XPort Receives Recognition From Top U.S. Embedded Publications
Since XPort was launched in February of this year, the product has received several noteworthy accolades from leading U.S.-based embedded electronics publications. In February, the XPort was recognized as EE Times’ “Product of the Week,” which highlights a product’s innovation, design impact, and feature set. The XPort was also showcased as Electronic Products Magazine’s “Product Highlights” for the month of May. This special treatment by the editors of Electronic Products Magazine testifies to the significance of the product in terms of technical advancement, price and performance.
“These awards, along with the ‘Electron d’Or,’ signify the tremendous momentum the XPort has garnered since its launch,” said Boyce. “We’re very proud that the XPort is being recognized from industry experts and it further exemplifies the impact of such technology.”
