Advantech Debuts New Universal PCI-bus Card with Low Profile

7/16/2003 - Advantech released a brand new series of Low Profile Universal PCI card, which features a 128-byte FIFO driver, and the ability to work with both 3.3-volt and 5-volt server slots. Its compact size and high-flexibly design allow our users to adapt any industrial constrained environment smaller scale systems and low profile servers.

What is the Low Profile PCI card?
The Low profile PCI card has the same signal protocol, electronic definition and configuration definition with standard PCI card, but the length of the low profile PCI card is shorter. The low profile PCI card is suitable for embedded system, or low profile server in every space-constrained industrial environment.

What is the "Universal" PCI card?
The Universal PCI card enables a single product to be used to implement systems with dramatically different resource requirements; it uses a universal PCI connector compatible with both the 3.3V connector key and the 5V connection used by older systems.

As many embedded systems, thin clients and compact-size system demonstrate a remarkable business growth these years, it is more and more difficult to plug general size PCI cards in such space-constrained embedded systems. Advantech foresees the huge market demand and is ready to release a series of Low Profile Universal PCI card.
