7/9/2003 - Cadence Design Systems, Inc. and Nanotron announced that Cadence's services played a key role in delivering Nanotron's nanoNET TRX RF chip design.
Nanotron, a Germany-based wireless technology IP & chip design provider, leveraged Cadence's "Virtual Integrated CAD" (VCAD) services to overcome new challenges in Nanotron's groundbreaking physical-layer (PHY) technology—nanoNET TRX RF chip design—which the company says is far more reliable and efficient than Bluetooth or WiFi in terms of bandwidth, transmission power, data rate and cost. The approach allowed Nanotron to focus on its primary objective of architectural and product design, while Cadence, with expertise in managing design infrastructure, supported the company's product design teams and helped them implement and verify the design.
"Working with Cadence provides us with access to the world's foremost electronic design flows and expertise on demand throughout all design phases. The fast, flexible and comprehensive support minimized our risk and became a vital enabler for the first-time right completion of this design," said Manfred Koslar, chief executive officer, Nanotron. "We were extremely satisfied with the technical knowledge, flexibility and dedication of the Cadence team, who worked with us as if we were one company."
"We are delighted to provide Nanotron with a comprehensive solution: world-class RF tool technology, electronic design expertise in integrated design infrastructure and the ability to collaborate in strategic design management. Our capabilities enable customers like Nanotron to tackle groundbreaking new architectural approaches, with Cadence committed to build the required design environment," said Wolf-Ekkehard Matzke, Fellow of Cadence Design Systems. "Our virtual collaboration model provides customers with flexible access to a broad set of expertise through a combination of onsite and virtual presence. Nanotron is the latest in a growing number of companies that are taking advantage of this unique capability."
VCAD is a design-system life-cycle support service built on an integrated electronic design infrastructure to implement and manage customer design environments from early-stage design system architecture and planning, through design system and flow implementation, all the way to ongoing operations and enhancement support. By leveraging a collaboration infrastructure, a broad range of expertise can be made available to complement a company's expertise by providing comprehensive and rapid issue resolution throughout all design phases, thus assisting to overcome any potential design difficulties that might put at risk design success.
