(Nasdaq: MRBA), the Software Change Management Company, announced that Ultimate Electronics (Nasdaq: ULTE) has selected Marimba's Desktop/Mobile Management products to manage the software distribution to desktops across the company's retail environment. Managing business applications from a central location and quickly delivering security hot fixes and updates have improved Ultimate Electronics' operational efficiencies and end user quality of service. Marimba has also helped reduce Ultimate Electronics' administrative overhead costs by eliminating travel for IT technicians to update applications and to configure new operating systems.
Ultimate Electronics, headquartered in Colorado and operating 58 stores across 13 states, is a leading specialty retailer of home entertainment and consumer electronics. Prior to selecting Marimba, Ultimate Electronics performed software distribution projects manually, flying teams of technicians to each of its retail store locations. After evaluating several software management solutions, Ultimate Electronics selected Marimba's Desktop/Mobile Management products due to their enhanced capability to manage and automate its software distribution requirements.
"In the past, we updated software by sending IT personnel to each of the retail locations, but this process was both time-consuming and expensive. Cost Avoidance by Automating Software Distribution
Using Marimba's Desktop/Mobile Management products, Ultimate Electronics will manage a Tomax retail.net point-of-sale system. As part of its environment to support desktop management, Ultimate Electronics will incorporate Marimba's software to manage and distribute custom Oracle and retail updates. This automation will eliminate the need for IT personnel to visit each store location every time there is a required update to the system. Marimba's ability to package and distribute Oracle updates as well as deploy anti-virus software and security patch updates, were essential to Ultimate Electronics' selection criteria.
As part of Ultimate Electronics demanding evaluation and testing process, Marimba performed a distribution to one of the company's retail stores.
