Intel Welcomes IDT to Communications Alliance

7/8/2003 - IDTTM (Integrated Device Technology, Inc.; Nasdaq: IDTI), a leading communications IC company and the leading provider of network search engines (NSEs), announced its participation in the newly formed Intel® Communications Alliance (ICA). Designed as a community of communications and embedded developers and solutions providers who share a common vision on the convergence of computing technologies, the ICA is comprised of companies chosen by Intel, based on their recognition as “worldwide leaders in their industries” and commitment to the development of platforms and solutions based on Intel technologies, processors, products and services.

The inclusion of IDT in the ICA furthers the company’s existing relationship with Intel. IDT offers network search engines (NSEs) that glue-lessly interface to the Intel® IXP2400, IXP2800 and IXP2850 network processors and was the first NSE vendor to deliver a NSE with a fully integrated industry-standard Network Processor Forum Look-Aside (LA-1) interface, based on the quad data rateTM (QDRTM) bus. In addition, IDT delivers a comprehensive software development kit (SDK) that includes a system-level architecture model, initialization, management and searching (IMS) software, and application libraries for the Intel IXDP2400 and IXDP2800 advanced development platforms. Together, these software development tools speed designers’ time to market, while enhancing performance and lowering overall system costs.

“IDT is pleased to be recognized as an associate member of the Intel Communications Alliance,” said Scott Sarnikowski, vice president and co-general manager of the IP co-processor division at IDT. “We remain committed to working within this solution-centered ecosystem program to drive revenue growth and market share in the communications market segment with our portfolio of network search engines and accompanying development tools.”

IDT IP Co-Processor Solutions
IDT provides a family of IP co-processor solutions, including industry-leading network search engines and content inspection engines that accelerate packet processing and enable intelligent application management in next-generation networking equipment. IDT is recognized by RHK, Inc. and International Data Corporation (IDC) as the technology leader, and as the volume shipment leader of network search engines. Based on the integration of content addressable memory (CAM) and high-performance logic, the IDT NSEs support NPUs and ASICs to accelerate packet classification and forwarding in core, metro and access networks. IDT offers the industry’s highest-performance NSE operating up to 250 MHz and the first NSE with an integrated LA-1 interface, and was the first vendor to introduce search widths up to 576 bits. The IDT NSE portfolio includes custom versions for Cisco Systems, as well as devices with general-purpose and glue-less interfaces to network processors. The IDT 256Kx36 (128Kx72) NSE received the EDN Top 100 Products Award of 2002.

The IDT content inspection engines are capable of parsing and classifying data up to Layer 7, a functionality that, when coupled with the NSEs, allows for inspection of content in both the packet header and payload, resulting in more intelligent packet processing at wire speed. IDT is an active NPF member and contributor to NPF and the Look Aside interface definition and serves as chairman of the board.
