7/2/2003 - TAK'ASIC, a leading innovator in dedicated imaging processors and solutions, announced a key partnership agreement with Zenographics to provide printer OEMs with turnkey, raster-based solutions for color laser printing.
Raster solutions are gaining rapid industry adoption by major manufacturers of laser printers for the growing low-end color page printer segment - a segment that grew over 20 percent last year according to Gartner, Inc., a leading market research firm.
Under this agreement Zenographics is providing its SuperPrint and Zj imaging and driver technologies for TAK'ASIC's recently introduced TAKPRO-800 chip, believed to be the fastest and most highly integrated SOC for office color printers and imaging solutions based on current industry specifications. TAK'ASIC will deliver its TAKRDK reference design kit using Zenographics' driver technology to provide printer OEMs with a complete, low-cost hardware/firmware/software solution for rapid production and time-to-market.
According TAK'ASIC CEO, Doug Goodyear, the agreement ensures a win-win for OEMs requiring complete and cost effective solutions to accelerate product development and market entry. "We believe our partnership represents an ideal opportunity for OEMs to capitalize on the tremendous customer interest in low-cost color printing."
"This agreement creates a world-class combination of imaging technology and price competitiveness that customers need to compete today," stated Bob Romney, president of Zenographics. "The combined experience and expertise of the two companies will provide substantive benefits to customers today and in the future."
Currently the Minolta magicolor 2300 DL utilizes TAK'ASIC's TAK'B3 compression chip together with Zenographics SuperPrint host-based raster image processor and driver technology as well as Zj PC-based compression and controller-based engine control and page management firmware. Introduced last November, the award winning Minolta laser printer was the first model in the category to break the $800 price point.
