Agilent 93000 Tests Set-top Box Chips for Digital Television in China

7/1/2003 - Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: A) announced that Haier (Beijing) IC Design Company Ltd. has selected the Agilent 93000 SOC Series test system for production test of its Hi2010 Patriot series integrated circuits (ICs). Haier's Hi2010 series is the company's newest, and China's first, commercialized MPEG-2 decoder chip for use in digital television.

The Hi2010 is a high-performance, low-cost, and easy-to-use chip, that integrates the decoding functions of ISO/IEC 13818 standards, including MCU, OSD, CA and video encoder, to decode and replay the high-level modulated video and audio signals for digital satellite/cable television receivers. The Agilent 93000 covers a wide range of applications, including digital, analog, and embedded memory testing. The 93000's single, scalable platform with flexible upgradeability is ideal for testing set-top box chips, such as the Haier Hi2010.

"The Agilent 93000 SOC test system meets the testing requirements of MPEG-2 decoder chips for digital satellite/cable TV receiver and set-top boxes," said Yan-Chun Yang, vice general manager of Haier (Beijing) IC Design. "In addition to the excellent performance of the Agilent 93000 and Agilent's professional technical support, Agilent's China team has worked closely with Haier to manage the complete manufacturing supply chain, enabling us to introduce the Hi2010 in a short time."

"Agilent is honored to participate in the launch of the Hi2010 and gain recognition from Haier," said Paul Yang, general manager of Agilent's China Semiconductor Test business. "The successful introduction of the Hi2010 again demonstrates that Agilent is not just a test equipment vendor but also a test solution provider and consultant that helps design houses manage the entire IC test manufacturing supply chain."
