Nohau Supports Motorola’s MC9S12E128 CPU with Emulator, BDM Debugger

6/26/2003 - Nohau Corporation announced that it offers both full-featured emulator and BDM debugger support for the MC9S12E128 CPU, of the HCS12 family, from Motorola Inc.’s Semiconductor Product Sector. Nohau’s emulator brings powerful & sophisticated debugging features to assist users in their development, and getting product to market faster.

The Nohau full-featured emulator is designed to support both 5V and 3.3V MC9S12E128 operation, to bus speeds of 32MHz at 5V, and 28MHz at 3.3V. The use of all the S12E128 internal features and resources is supported. Over 1MByte of emulation RAM can be used to replace the internal FLASH, to allow an easy debug process, and to develop applications for future larger and smaller MC9S12E family members, today. Executing from the internal FLASH is also allowed and may be useful for late debug stages.

A Nohau full CMOS-levels Port Replacement Unit (PRU) is used to recreate ports A, B, E and K. Support for the S12E128 paged programming model is implemented, and an unlimited number of hardware and software breakpoints are available. A fully non-intrusive 64K Shadow memory exists to allow viewing memory variables and structures updates during run-time. BDM debugger with S12E128 internal Flash programming and un-securing support is also offered by Nohau, and uses the same Seehau GUI as the full-featured emulator. Both the full-featured emulator and BDM debugger will support the use of the internal S12E128 trace starting in July 2003 for no additional cost.

“Nohau is pleased to offer these tools in a timely manner, enhancing Nohau’s support of all HCS12 based derivatives,” said Olle Hallengren, president of Nohau Corporation. “This continues our alliance with Motorola extending the number of supported derivatives for the HCS12 family.”
