6/25/2003 - Alliance & Leicester has chosen, in a competitive tender, Fujitsu Services, one of Europe’s leading providers of managed services for IT infrastructure, to provide desktop support for its headquarters and 22 regional offices across the UK in a contract worth £20 million over three years. The contract aims to increase efficiency of services, while reducing downtime.
Fujitsu and Alliance & Leicester are building on a successful relationship, developed through infrastructure project services supplied by Fujitsu over the past few years. The contract has been designed to be flexible and constantly under review, allowing both parties to work together to identify where future issues may occur and ensuring the best level of support is in place.
Fujitsu will be partnering with Alliance & Leicester to provide them with a new type of desktop support with different levels of service tailored for different areas of the business. Service Level Agreements will provide rapid support to business critical hardware, guaranteeing business continuity by minimising the impact of IT downtime. This will provide a more consistent level of service enabling 9,000 staff across the group to work with increased efficiency and service customers with minimal delays.
The contract also includes the supply of new hardware and software products Alliance & Leicester will require. Fujitsu will improve current practices by providing a single point of contact for orders, cost transparency and a reduction in the delivery times for hardware ordered, ensuring they arrive complete with all essential software already installed. This will allow Alliance & Leicester to drive its business forward faster, and roll out programs, such as equipping managers with laptops to enable mobile working.
Andrew Wilson, director of retail and financial business units at Fujitsu Services commented, "We are looking forward to building upon our relationship with Alliance & Leicester. We have a clear vision of how we can work together to progress their IT service delivery in the future to help achieve the cost reductions they require."
Russell Simm, group information services director for Alliance & Leicester said; "Fujitsu has demonstrated in the past its ability to meet the high service levels we demand at a competitive price. A reduction in downtime experienced will allow us to support our business users better and make improvements to customer service."
The contract replaces Alliance & Leicester's incumbent desktop support supplier of 14 years.
