Agilent, AirMagnet Team for WLAN Network Analysis Solutions

6/24/2003 - Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: A) and AirMagnet Inc. announced an agreement to offer integrated wired and wireless network administration, management and troubleshooting solutions designed specifically for service providers and enterprise customers.

The agreement allows Agilent to offer its customers WLAN (wireless LAN) network analysis by integrating AirMagnet's award-winning WLAN management capabilities into Agilent's robust network analysis products. With the new capabilities, Agilent now offers its customers the ability to efficiently design, deploy and maintain 802.11- and 802.1x-based WLANs, creating the most comprehensive network troubleshooting portfolio in the industry.

"Agilent's network analysis tools are the standard in every service provider worldwide and leading corporate IT organizations across the globe. Every customer has the same demands for maintaining their networks -- to have end-to-end visibility regardless of network architectures and specific access points," said Steve Witt, vice president and general manager of Agilent's Network Systems Test Division. "AirMagnet's WLAN tools and Agilent's complete LAN/WAN network troubleshooting portfolio give customers this critical visibility with a full-scale solution to simplify the troubleshooting process, increase efficiency and reduce costs."

In conjunction with the AirMagnet WLAN tools, the Agilent Wireless LAN Analyzer offers a combination of high-quality Wi-Fi management capabilities with a small form factor that can go anywhere, enabling technicians to work without limitations. IT professionals can use the new technology to solve the most elusive network problems, whether located in a local, wide-area or wireless network. They can troubleshoot WLAN issues, monitor performance and conduct site surveys when deploying new access points. Agilent Wireless LAN Analyzers also feature more than 70 customizable performance and security alarms.

The new product set extends Agilent's LAN management capabilities by bringing AirMagnet's RF expertise to Agilent's highly integrated network test solution. The Agilent Wireless LAN Analyzer permits IT professionals to simplify WLAN testing and ensures the highest levels of reliability, performance and security 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

"Agilent is a trusted leader in network analysis solutions," said Dean Au, president and chief executive officer for AirMagnet. "We are pleased the company is integrating our wireless technology to add support for WLANs to its existing LAN and WAN test portfolio. Agilent customers can now monitor and control internal security policies, proactively defend against wireless intrusions, lock-in network performance and reliability, and create full reports on their entire network -- all with a single management solution."
