TI Introduces Dual-Slot, Hot Plug Controller with Serial Interface
6/24/2003 - Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI) announced a new hot-plug power controller that provides design flexibility and higher power efficiency when controlling two slots of power supplies in peripheral component interconnect (PCI) bus and PCI-X hot plug server applications.
The TPS2341 dual-slot hot plug controller contains main supply power control, auxiliary power supply control, power FETs for 3.3V, 5V and 12V, -12V main supplies and auxiliary 3.3V supplies, and an I2C serial interface for communications with and control of both power slots.
The new TPS2341 controller is available in volume today from TI and the company's authorized distributors. The device is available in a 48-pin, thermally enhanced thin quad flat pack (HTQFP) package. Suggested pricing per unit in quantities of 1,000 is $4.00.
