Maxwell Meets High Standards for ISO 9001:2000 Certification

6/20/2003 - Maxwell Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq: MXWL) announced that its Power Systems group has been certified to ISO 9001:2000 standards. This certification confirms that Maxwell’s Power Systems’ design, manufacturing and other operational processes meet the high standard demanded by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).

Michael Everett, Maxwell’s Vice President – Technology Systems, said that the company has implemented a number of quality-enhancement initiatives that focus on delivering ever-improving value to customers and continuous improvement of overall organizational performance and capabilities.

"This accreditation reinforces Maxwell’s ongoing commitment to delivering reliable products," Everett said. “It is a reflection of the ongoing improvements we are making to ensure that we best serve the needs of our customers by meeting strict quality assurance standards that satisfy or exceed the ISO requirements. Further, it is imperative that we formalize the compliance of our quality systems across all product lines in the company. This most recent achievement represents the first in a series of aggressively targeted certification events that will span the organization and have front line impacts in product quality and other key performance areas.”

ISO 9001:2000 is the international quality system standard that was revised in the year 2000 to ensure registered companies provide increased value through applying documented continual improvement processes. Five primarily process-based sections replaced the original twenty ISO elements of the previous ISO 9001 standard to which the Power Systems division has been certified. The revised standard applies to all sectors, products, and organizations.
