6/20/2003 - Silicon Metrics® and Magma® Design Automation Inc. (Nasdaq: LAVA) announced that Silicon Metrics has joined the MagmaTies partnership program. Silicon Metrics' SiliconSmartTM characterization and modeling technology has now been validated to produce the necessary crosstalk data for Magma's comprehensive noise solution. The integration effort entailed extensive collaboration between the two companies to define the model format extensions, determine the unique measurements required and certify the models.
With 130 nanometer and finer process geometries, new electrical effects are causing system-on-chip (SoC) designs to fail. It is now critical to perform signal integrity (SI) analysis in addition to timing and power analysis at the beginning and throughout the flow. Conventional SI analysis solutions are employed too late in the flow and generate too many false-positives. This ineffective approach significantly lengthens the design cycle and reduces quality of results (QOR).

To address potential SI issues, Blast Noise® works throughout the flow to analyze and adjust the design to avoid crosstalk noise and delay issues. The key component for the success of the analysis in these design flows is the availability of accurate timing, power and SI models.
Based on the commonly used Liberty library format, Silicon Metrics and Magma have worked together to define the underlying model format extensions, identify the unique measurements, and certify the characterization data for Blast Fusion APX to reach design closure for timing, power, and SI.
