6/19/2003 - Fujitsu PC Corporation, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Fujitsu Limited (TSE:6702), has posted the two fastest SPECweb99® scores for dual Intel® XeonTM servers running Red Hat® Linux operating system. Demonstrating the company's Linux expertise, its PRIMERGY RX300 and PRIMERGY TX300 both outperformed the competition on the industry-standard benchmark for measuring the performance of Web servers. Standard Performance Evaluation Corporation (SPEC®), the developer of the SPECweb99 benchmark, recently published the test results online at www.spec.org.
"Linux offers an alternative operating system with rapidly growing application potential in building up new business fields such as e-commerce, Web hosting or file and print services," said Sara Nelson, vice president of marketing for Fujitsu PC Corporation. "Fujitsu PRIMERGY servers provide the solid platform necessary to use Linux for tasks that demand excellent availability and performance."
The Fujitsu rack and tower servers are the latest generation of PRIMERGY servers featuring Intel Xeon 3.06 GHz processors with 533 MHz Front Side Bus and Hyper-Threading architecture. With its great expandability and dual Xeon power, the PRIMERGY RX300 represents the perfect server for rack-based IT infrastructures. Its 2U (3.5-inch) design and six hot-plug drives make it ideal for a wide variety of roles in the corporate data center.
The PRIMERGY TX300 is an all-purpose tower server perfect for medium sized companies and branches of large enterprises with business critical applications. The PRIMERGY TX300 server is capable of growing with one's business, offering up to nine disks and plenty of computing power with up to two Xeon CPUs.
All Fujitsu PRIMERGY servers have been tested and certified for Microsoft Windows 2000 Server and Linux (Red Hat and SuSE®) operating systems. PRIMERGY servers distinguish themselves with superior performance and exceptional scalability.
