6/19/2003 - Fujitsu Limited announced record-breaking results for its PRIMEPOWERTM 2500 UNIX® system in the SPECjbb_2000 Java performance benchmark. Breaking the one million operations per second barrier for the first time, Fujitsu achieved performance of 1,420,177 operations per second with a 112-way PRIMEPOWER 2500 system using the company's 1.3GHz SPARC64® V processors, shattering records previously set by HP, Sun and IBM in the same performance tests. In the 64-way server category, as well, PRIMEPOWER 2500 outpaced the competition with performance of over 800,000 operations per second. These benchmark results were published on www.spec.org as of May 29, 2003.
Fujitsu's latest Java performance leadership results follow the achievement of Number One status in the 32-, 16- and 8-way server performance categories with PRIMEPOWER 1500 and 900 systems over the past few months.

About The SPECjbb_2000 Benchmark
SPECjbb 2000 represents an order processing application for a wholesale supplier. The benchmark measures the performance of CPUs, caches, memory hierarchy and SMP capability in hardware point of view. Written in Java and released by SPEC in 2000, it was developed with participation from computer vendors, systems integrators, universities, research organizations, publishers and consultants. SPECjbb 2000 is loosely modeled after the TPC-C benchmark's business model, emulating a three-tier client/server system with emphasis on the middle tier. However, contrary to typical TPC-C implementations, all of SPECjbb 2000 is written in Java, and all three tiers are implemented within a single JVM. No commercial database is used; Java objects replace database objects for the purpose of this benchmark. Due to the different implementations, SPECjbb 2000 results should not be confused with TPC-C results, where Fujitsu also performs very strongly.
