6/19/2003 - Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: A) announced that Sanmina-SCI is developing InfiniBand switch and host channel adapter (HCA) original design manufacturer (ODM) solutions for servers, data centers and high-performance computing applications based on Agilent's high-performance InfiniBand silicon technology.
Sanmina-SCI currently employs the Agilent HDMP-2840 InfiniBand switch chip for switch products serving enterprise data center customers that require low-latency, high-speed communications. The Agilent HDMP-2840 includes 32 embedded SerDes and offers eight ports, each running at 10 Gb/s full duplex. Sanmina-SCI also plans further development of InfiniBand products based on Agilent's second-generation silicon technology, including a 12x/4x switch and a high-performance HCA.
"We continue to develop our line of platform products for InfiniBand that enable our enterprise computing and storage customers to deploy InfiniBand technology," said Greg Thompson, InfiniBand Program Director at Sanmina-SCI. "Sanmina-SCI is committed to developing InfiniBand ODM solutions based on leading silicon provider offerings. Agilent is a leading IC technology provider with a reputation for high quality, global support and high-volume manufacturing. These assets combined with its high-performance InfiniBand ICs made our decision to work with Agilent an easy one."
"We are very pleased that Sanmina-SCI selected Agilent's InfiniBand ICs to extend their family of end-to-end InfiniBand ODM solutions for the corporate data center," said Dr. Hungwen Li, vice president and general manager of Agilent's RedSwitch Division. "The alliance of Sanmina-SCI and Agilent further extends the leadership each company has demonstrated in the deployment of the InfiniBand architecture within the enterprise. It also marks another major milestone in the evolution and deployment of the InfiniBand architecture."
