6/17/2003 - Stonestreet One, a leading provider of Bluetooth software and engineering services, and Clarity, a provider of award winning proprietary software products and algorithms for improved voice communications, have joined forces to offer a fully integrated Bluetooth voice solution. Clarity's award-winning CVCTM (Clear Voice Capture) software will be combined with Stonestreet One's industry-leading Bluetooth protocol stack, Bluetopia®, and the resulting solution will be licensed through Stonestreet One. Both companies' global distribution channels will field inquiries and coordinate customer demonstrations; however, customers will have the convenience of purchasing a combined software solution from just one company. Customers will realize cost and size savings, time-to-market efficiencies and the convenience of software support from one source.
The Bluetopia/CVC solution will be available on multiple platforms, including TI DSPs, Hitachi SHx, and ARM processors, and various operating systems, such as QNX, DSP BIOS, and Linux. The solution will be available in third quarter 2003.
One of the challenges on early releases of Bluetooth products has been the quality of the voice interfaces. Stonestreet One and Clarity will continue to develop enhancements to voice quality and performance, and the Bluetooth specification, and are committed to bringing those enhancements to the market on a regular basis. The companies will work together to promote a complete high-end software solution for a variety of Bluetooth voice-related markets.
"We believe the Bluetooth audio market is set to explode and we have been impressed with Stonestreet One and Bluetopia," said Fred Nussbaum, executive vice president of business development and marketing for Clarity. "Our collaboration began well over a year ago and has been a very positive and integrated experience. We recognize that each of us spends many hours with the same silicon customer teams reviewing specifications for the same projects. We expect that this improved efficiency of having already worked out the integration of a solution will allow lower price points and faster time to market for our customers than approaching them separately."
"We have been hearing from our customers and prospects that they would like a higher quality, more complete Bluetooth voice solution," said Tim Reilly, founder and chief technology officer of Stonestreet One. "Our response is to team with Clarity and to use their award-winning CVC products. The burden shouldn't be on the customer to find and piece together the best possible software to develop Bluetooth voice solutions. Now the customer can avoid a time-consuming and costly search for inter-operable software and depend on Stonestreet One and Clarity to work to keep this solution current. We see this as a great opportunity to differentiate our Bluetooth offering from others."
Both Stonestreet One and Clarity are exhibiting at the 2003 Bluetooth World Congress June 17 - June 19 in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
