Tao Group, MyOrigo to Develop Multimedia Smartphones

6/17/2003 - Tao Group and MyOrigo Ltd announced a partnership to develop an entirely new generation of smartphone devices. Handhelds based on the collaboration will deliver incredible multimedia performance through a revolutionary new user interface.

Tao and MyOrigo have partnered to address the limitations found in the current generation of mass-market mobile devices. Tao’s intent® multimedia platform gives access to an unrivalled breadth of multimedia and application execution features, such as audio, video, media plug-ins and JavaTM technology, enabling user interface and application suite customisation. MyOrigo develops and markets next generation smartphone devices and technologies with a strong emphasis on innovative user interface solutions, enriched multimedia services and a fresh approach to user interface design.

Francis Charig, Chairman and Chief Executive of Tao Group commented: "Platform technologies that have evolved from the convergence between phone and PC have serious limitations – particularly when delivering the quality of multimedia content that consumers demand. Through the revolutionary advances from MyOrigo and Tao, network operators can deliver the calibre of services required to attract the size of user base needed to generate revenue and grow the operator’s brand."

Working together, Tao and MyOrigo have developed a device to overcome these problems, offering access to compelling gaming and entertainment content or smartphone capabilities and applications for enterprise users.
