6/13/2003 - Xilinx, Inc. (Nasdaq: XLNX) announced the appointment of Harold E. Hughes, Jr. as a new board member. His appointment expands the number of members on the Xilinx board of directors to nine, of whom seven are independent.
"We are delighted to have Harold join the Xilinx board. He brings with him a wealth of financial experience as well as a sound knowledge of the semiconductor industry," said Wim Roelandts, Xilinx's chief executive officer.
Hughes, 57, began his career in the semiconductor industry at Intel Corporation in 1974, where he served for 24 years in a variety of capacities including Chief Financial Officer, Treasurer and Vice President of Planning and Logistics. Additionally, Hughes founded and served as the Vice President of Intel Capital, Intel's venture investment operation. From 1997- 2000, Hughes served as Chairman and CEO of Pandesic LLC, a company providing web-based SAP systems.
Hughes currently serves on several boards including Merant, London Pacific, Atsana and Rambus. Hughes holds a BA from the University of Wisconsin and an MBA from the University of Michigan.
