Extended Systems Helps Bouygues Construction have Access Anywhere

6/13/2003 - Extended Systems (NASDAQ: XTND), a leading provider of mobile information management solutions for the enterprise, announced that Bouygues Construction, a global, multi-billion dollar public works and civil engineering company based in France, has equipped a large portion of its workforce with mobile synchronization and management software from Extended Systems.

As part of Bouygues Construction's "Anywhere IT" project, the company's IT division, Structis, wanted to offer a high-performance, easy-to-use data access service to mobile users, many of whom do not have a great deal of time to be trained on handheld device software. Synchronization had to be possible with a variety of PDAs and mobile phones and needed to be performed in wired and wireless environments-GPRS, GSM and Bluetooth included.

After an exhaustive validation procedure performed by Structis, Extended Systems' XTNDConnect mobile sync and management software came out on top as the data access solution of choice. Not only is the solution compatible with all of Bouygues' messaging servers (Exchange 5.5 and 2000 included), it meets all of the company's security and device management requirements. Now with the Extended Systems solution, Bouygues Construction employees have anytime access to email and PIM (personal information management). What's more, the company has a platform and upgrade path provided by XTNDConnect that will allow for the mobilization of enterprise applications such as CRM, ERP and FFA.

"We have nothing but positive feedback from all the people we outfitted with the Extended Systems solution," said Dominique Caux, mobile solutions project manager for Structis, Bouygues Construction's IT division. "We needed a solution that satisfied the greatest number of users, that was reliable and easy to use. XTNDConnect Server fully meets those requirements."

"The fact that Extended Systems was chosen by Bouygues Construction to help mobilize its workforce is a clear indication of the outstanding reputation Extended Systems has within the enterprise for its ability to solve the mobile needs of global companies," said Charles Jepson, vice president of worldwide sales and marketing for Extended Systems.
