Agilent Sets Standard for Toshiba with RF and Mixed-signal Design Tools

6/11/2003 - Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: A) announced that Toshiba has selected Agilent's RF and mixed-signal design software tools as its new standard for mobile and wireless IC development. The Agilent design tools provide designers in Toshiba's System LSI Division and Discrete Semiconductor Division with a comprehensive Agilent RF Design Environment (RFDE) for efficient circuit simulation and system design.

"The agreement with Agilent enables our R&D facility to be more efficient by providing a consistent design environment across all our sites nationwide," said Tamotsu Hiwatashi, senior manager of the planning department, System LSI Design Division, Toshiba Corporation. "We have a growing number of RF designers and this comprehensive RF Design Environment enables rapid circuit simulation and system design."

Agilent RFDE is an RF electronic design automation (EDA) software environment that tightly integrates leading RF simulation technologies from Agilent Advanced Design System (ADS) into Cadence Design System's industry-standard analog and mixed signal design flow. RFDE is the first product to result from the alliance with Cadence, giving analog and RF engineers access to frequency-domain simulation technology from within the Cadence environment. Agilent offers a subscription-based model for purchase of licenses to access its circuit and system simulation technologies.

"Toshiba is a strong supporter of our RF design environment," said Jim Tabuchi, marketing and services manager at Agilent EEsof EDA Division. "By adopting RFDE into their design flow and using our subscription-based licensing model, design engineers at Toshiba have improved access to world-class simulation tools that help get mobile and wireless communication product design accomplished quickly and efficiently."
