6/11/2003 - Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: A) announced that Rambus (Nasdaq:RMBS), a leading provider of chip-to-chip interface products and services, has selected the Agilent 93000 SOC Series test system to characterize Rambus' newest high-speed interfaces, codenamed Yellowstone and Redwood. The Agilent 93000 enables Rambus to conduct at-speed characterization on Redwood, a new parallel bus interface capable of running up to 6.4 GHz, and Yellowstone, Rambus' next-generation memory interface enabling memory bandwidth up to 100 GBytes/s.
Rambus has signed a number of licensing agreements with industry-leading companies to use these interfaces in future broadband applications, including high-end computing and consumer electronics.
"The Agilent 93000 features the most advanced high-speed test capabilities we've seen in an ATE system, providing Rambus with the opportunity to conduct at-speed characterization on our new interfaces," said Samir Patel, vice president of the Memory Interface Division at Rambus. Redwood, which offers a full range of support extending from 400 MHz to 6.4 GHz data rates, will be characterized using the Agilent 93000 XP solution set. The XP solution set integrates the new Agilent 81250 ParBERT (Parallel Bit Error Ratio Tester) modules into the Agilent 93000, enabling full physical device characterization up to an industry-leading 13.5 Gb/s. Rambus also will use the Agilent 93000 NP2500 3G-XS (extended speed) to characterize the Yellowstone interface, which starts at 3.2 GHz with a roadmap to 6.4 GHz and beyond. The 3G-XS is a software enhancement that runs on the NP-model's proven, reliable hardware with a high bandwidth that enables testing of the Yellowstone interface. This software enables testing devices at speeds beyond 3.2 GHz data rates, providing fast debugging, superior jitter measurement performance, and highest throughput for production.
