Xiran Streams IP-Based Content to NCTA Show

6/10/2003 - Xiran, a division of SimpleTech, focused on developing content delivery solutions, will be demonstrating the DirectPath STM-1000 content delivery server at the 2003 NCTA (National Cable and Telecommunications Association) show. Xiran's streaming media content delivery solution is part of the Seagate Technology (NYSE: STX) exhibit at the NCTA show at McCormick Place in Chicago, June 8-11, 2003, in booth #455.

Xiran's STM-1000 2U server incorporates Seagate's leading-edge 15K RPM Fibre Channel Cheetah disk drives, ensuring high performance for its media content delivery server appliances. Powered by Xiran's DirectPath architecture, the STM-1000 delivers Gbps wire speeds between its Gigabit Ethernet ports and its internal FC-based storage subsystem.

"Xiran designed the STM-1000 from the ground up to achieve the highest possible streaming media performance, offering Gbps wire speed throughput between its network and storage subsystem. Our highly integrated server appliance houses up to 12 internal Fibre Channel drives in a 2U form factor along with sophisticated support firmware that assures serving thousands of unique streams at Gbps wire speeds," said Jeanclaude Toma, vice president of marketing and business development for Xiran.

"Xiran has leveraged from the most sophisticated Fibre Channel switching technology available in its system design to optimize the DirectPath data routes between the STM-1000's network and storage and assure deterministic Quality of Service (QoS) at peak wire speeds. The STM-1000 system targets a wide variety of applications, including live and on-demand broadcasts and PVR (personal video recording). This event is an opportunity to showcase Xiran's scalable and format agnostic DirectPath architecture to customers interested in becoming OEMs of our systems," Toma said.
