6/10/2003 - Marimba, Inc. (Nasdaq: MRBA), the Software Change Management Company, announced that Catholic Healthcare West (CHW) has selected Marimba® Desktop/Mobile Management products to address security patch management and software change management activities for all of the desktops and laptops throughout its entire hospital system. CHW will also utilize Marimba to help facilitate and maintain compliance with the federal Healthcare Information Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA).
CHW, with 42 acute care hospitals in California, Arizona and Nevada, is the largest not-for-profit healthcare provider in California and the largest Catholic hospital system in the western United States. CHW's IT group is responsible for deploying, distributing, and managing software and hotfix patches for all of its hospitals and administrative offices.
Perot Systems provides IT operations and applications services to CHW's hospitals. "We are confident that Marimba's technology will help CHW meet the needs of its complex and diverse networks and address all of its software change management needs," said Eric Leader, Perot Systems' information technology architect at CHW.
Automated Security Patch Management
Marimba's security patch management capabilities will automate the deployment and management of anti-virus software and security patches for CHW's network by quickly delivering security hotfixes and updates to thousands of desktops and laptops. Marimba's stateless updating technology allows patch dependencies and conflicts to be resolved during the automated patch installation process.
Marimba's Desktop/Mobile Management products also help healthcare providers to reduce costs, while adhering to government mandates such as HIPPA. By updating desktop applications in a consistent manner, Marimba's software includes built-in functionality that will help CHW streamline and enforce HIPPA compliance efforts.
"The reliable delivery of applications throughout a healthcare system's enterprise is mission-critical, as there is no room for error," said Rich Wyckoff, president and CEO of Marimba. "As a result, more leading healthcare providers such as CHW are relying on our products to streamline and automate their software change management needs."
