6/6/2003 - Sun Microsystems, Inc. (Nasdaq: SUNW) announced that the company regained its position as the worldwide leader in Linux+UNIX server revenue and unit shipments in the first quarter of CY2003, according to the 1Q03 Worldwide Server Database by Gartner Dataquest released recently.
"Customers have responded to recent additions to Sun's comprehensive systems portfolio, helping the company to outpace its competitors," said Larry Singer, Sun's vice president, global information office. "In the highly competitive 1-way server space we saw strong growth for our V120 server. This is proof positive that our low cost computing strategy is working and that customers are increasingly moving to SPARC and Solaris systems."
