6/6/2003 - Kada Systems, a leading independent provider of certified Java 2 Platform, Micro Edition (J2ME) software deployment solutions for mobile solution providers, announced the immediate availability of the Kada “Java Powered” Mobile Information Device Profile (MIDP) 2.0 platform for the Pocket PC. Kada also announced the immediate availability of MIDP 1.0 on the Palm OS. MIDP 2.0 for the Palm OS will be available in 30 days. With the delivery of these solutions, Kada offers a full solution set for wireless mobile developers. The Kada Mobile Platform is certified by Sun Microsystems as “Java Powered” on the Palm, Pocket PC and SmartPhone 2002 environments. MIDP 2.0 provides developers with a standard API for developing advanced multimedia and networking applications.
Additionally, Kada announced its continuing support for the wireless developer community with its JSR185 capabilities. JSR185 provides J2ME developers a full-featured, stable, standard application environment that reduces some of the fragmentation of the market from multiple implementations of MIDP and also enhances application portability.
“Kada Systems continues to deliver innovative, feature rich solutions to ODMs and OEMs that reduce their time to market and benefit from our being a Sun licensee,” said Jim Acquiviva, president and CEO of Kada. “As we move forward, Kada will continue to meet the evolving needs of the J2ME development community, using the tremendous potential of Java technology to create a new generation of devices for the mobile marketplace.”
Kada has developed a fully optimized Java Virtual Machine for the Java 2 Micro Edition from Sun Microsystems. The Kada Mobile Platform for J2ME provides a complete and portable environment ready for deployment on any mobile device. Kada employs a unique memory management approach that creates a thin deployment with a small total footprint on the device. This frees up critical space in memory for other applications, and together with its built in Java acceleration technologies, improves performance significantly.
