Bustronic Launches Rare 3-slot CompactPCI Backplane

6/6/2003 - Bustronic Corporation, an industry leading designer and manufacturer of high performance backplanes, has developed a new backplane for low-profile horizontal CompactPCI (cPCI) chassis. CompactPCI backplanes are most common in 4, 6, and 8-slot sizes. The 6U 3-slot cPCI backplane is a rare configuration with interesting features.

Compliant with the latest PICMG specifications, the 3-slot cPCI backplane features an ATX power connector to allow easy plug-in from the backplane to the chassis during assembly. The ATX power connector eliminates the need to build a wire harness by utilizing the standard PC power supply cable. The backplane also features power studs for optimal performance in systems with higher power requirements. Bustronic's CompactPCI backplanes offer faster chassis assembly during system production and provide an extremely cost-effective solution for system designers.

"Bustronic continues to develop new solutions for the more and more popular low-profile enclosures", said Fred Hirsch, General Manager of Bustronic. "The 6U 3-slot cPCI backplane is a hard-to-find slot size for a cPCI backplane. Bustronic continues its goal to offer the widest range of VME, VME64x, and cPCI backplane in the industry."

Bustronic cPCI backplanes incorporate computer-simulated, eight-layer stripline design for high performance. With optimal power dispersion and distributed high and low frequency decoupling capacitors, the 3-slot CompactPCI backplane delivers virtually zero crosstalk. The backplane conforms to the latest PICMG specifications.
