(Nasdaq: RSYS) showcases its expertise in integrated platforms by demonstrating a broad range of standards-based systems for use in today’s demanding central office and data center applications. These platforms, complete with integrated high availability features, hardware and software building blocks, eliminate the hassle of doing the majority of the system integration and validation for the customers. Also having the choice of a multitude of form factors, provides the customer the flexibility and choice to address the specific requirement for each type of network element application such as Blade Server, SGSN, RNC, Media Gateway Controller, etc.
Additionally, CEO Scott Grout will participate in a panel discussion on “Profitable Applications for Today’s Broadband Marketplace.”
The RadiSys demos showcase the flexibility of the RadiSys strategic architecture by providing switch fabric technology that works across multiple form factors. This common fabric provides our customers the ability to leverage their investment across multiple platforms, applications and network elements. RadiSys’ platforms are based on a rich set of hardware, software, and middleware building blocks that are integrated with third party software. Our customers then add their “secret sauce” – application software – to develop their solution and get to market early with off-the-shelf technology. The economics of the off-the-shelf technology saves our customers’ development cost as well as acquisition costs due to economy of scale. The demos will feature a CompactPCI 2.16 system, a customer specific compute-optimized blade server solution and AdvancedTCA (ATCA).
The CompactPCI 2.16 system is a high availability platform ideal for telecommunications applications. RadiSys demonstrates major availability features like redundant Ethernet bonding drivers, switch fail-over and platform management. Based on proven industry standard technologies, the RadiSys 2.16 solution is a fully integrated, open system solution that enables the integration of 3rd party equipment when required. Applications enabled by this platform include Softswitches, I/O intensive network elements and Gateway network elements in the access and edge networks.
Customer specific platform Demo
RadiSys demo also includes a blade server platform that is very similar to the ATCA architecture except for the form factor. This flexible blade server offers the highest compute density in carrier grade system while maintaining a low total cost of ownership for the carrier grade server platform. This platform developed by RadiSys working closely with the customer is a highly redundant platform optimized for carrier-grade blade-server applications in control plane, services plane and management plane. The applications for this platform include Billing Servers, Application Servers and other compute and storage server applications such as SoftSwitches and HLR/VLRs. The demo showcases many of the redundancy features of the platform along with the processing and fibre channel storage capabilities. These capabilities include platform management capabilities, hot-swap capabilities and more.
The AdvancedTCATM demo showcases an innovative concept of CPU clustering using several PrPMCs on a single ATCA board. The demonstration shows four PMC sites on the board interconnected over a Gigabit fabric on-board. By clustering four Intel Architecture PrPMCs, RadiSys solution concentrates the processing power of four CPUs onto single board, thus reducing the slot count required to achieve the same processing power. The demonstration also includes many of the advanced platform management features required in the ATCA specification. AdvancedTCA, the “next generation” standard for carrier grade solutions is well suited for core network element solutions such as RNCs, Media Gateways, SGSNs and high performance Blade Servers.
