6/4/2003 - Xiran, a division of SimpleTech, focused on developing content delivery solutions, will be demonstrating the DirectPath STM-1000 streaming media server enabled with RealNetworks(R)' Helix(TM) Universal Server software at the InfoComm 2003 show. The combined platform can deliver 300 kbps streams at wire speed to several thousand users simultaneously, offering up to 10X throughput performance improvement over current streaming media servers.* Xiran's solution is part of the RealNetworks exhibit at the InfoComm show in Orlando, Florida, Orange County Convention Center, June 3-5, 2003, in booth #3932.
Xiran is the first licensee to market a hardware acceleration solution for Helix Universal Server software from RealNetworks. Xiran has developed advanced hardware, firmware and software solutions based on the combination of Xiran's DirectPath content delivery acceleration technology and Helix-based streaming media server software. The DirectPath architecture provides a scalable and protocol agnostic solution for accelerating content delivery. Optimized Helix streaming software running on the STM-1000 can stream RealVideo(R), Windows Media, QuickTime, MPEG-4, and H.263 to a large user base at wire speeds.
"Xiran's STM-1000 and Helix server software showcased at InfoComm demonstrates how the technology collaboration between RealNetworks and Xiran delivers next-generation streaming media server technology," said Jeanclaude Toma, vice president of marketing and business development for Xiran. "Corporations, ISPs, wireless service, and IP-based video-on-demand providers can leverage our flexible server appliance that is format agnostic and supports a very high stream count for a wide range of applications in the infrastructure, wireless, last mile, VOD, and security and surveillance markets. Our objective from the start has been to build a scalable streaming media server appliance that offers very low cost-per-stream and cost of ownership to our customers."
"Xiran's DirectPath STM-1000 streaming media server offers a unique performance and value to the streaming media market, while fully leveraging the merits of Helix Universal Server software," said Nagesh Pabbisetty, vice president, Helix products and solutions, RealNetworks, Inc. "With this combination, service and content providers can realize savings in consolidating multiple digital media infrastructures into a single media delivery platform."
