IP Infusion Verifies ZebOS Virtual Private LAN Interoperability

6/4/2003 - IP Infusion Inc., a leading provider of intelligent network software for enhanced IP services, showcased its commitment to deliver next-generation routing and switching solutions by successfully testing its ZebOS® Virtual Private LAN Services (VPLS) software at NetWorld+Interop 2003 InteropNet Labs (iLabs). In addition to VPLS, IP Infusion verified the interoperability of its BGP/MPLS-VPNs, Layer 2 Martini (Virtual) Circuit and RSVP-TE solutions with a number of leading equipment vendors’ products.

"Customers rely on IP Infusion to provide standards-based software that is interoperable with other vendors’ solutions. The iLabs event provides an ideal environment to test and validate the interoperability of our MPLS suites with a wide range of routing and switching equipment. Participating in iLabs, in addition to submitting our software for testing to the UNH InterOperability Labs and attending strategic multi-vendor initiatives allows us to provide interoperability with key industry companies," said Dr. Govind Desale, vice president of operations at IP Infusion. “Because only a handful of companies support VPLS, IP Infusion was excited to have the opportunity to test our VPLS solution against other vendors’ implementations.”

iLabs is a 15-year old event that provides NetWorld+Interop conference attendees with a first hand view of the latest networking technologies. The iLabs interoperability initiative allowed vendors to test against a number of leading solutions, including those from: Cisco, Juniper, Riverstone, Foundry Networks, IXIA, Extreme, and Redback.

VPLS Interoperability
IP Infusion, the only software supplier participating in the iLabs event, successfully tested its VPLS software with other VPLS solutions. VPLS is an advanced Layer 2 switching technology that allows service providers to deliver transparent VPN services over their existing infrastructure. VPLS leverages the performance and scalability of MPLS, and simplifies deployment by enabling multiple sites to share a single bridged domain. VPLS also supports multipoint-to-multipoint VPNs, allowing service providers to quickly connect three or more VPN sites together.

Because MPLS switching capabilities are critical for core and edge routing equipment, IP Infusion has developed a wide array of MPLS based signaling protocols, including LDP, BGP-VPN, CR-LDP, RSVP-TE, MPLS Layer 2 virtual circuits, and VPLS, as licensable modules for communications equipment vendors.

About IP Infusion's ZebOS Routing Suites
IP Infusion designs, develops, and markets its ZebOS family of advanced IP routing suites, which are based on a unique, modular, multi-process architecture featuring control-plane components that provide route redistribution and conversion, management services, and an OS/processor abstraction layer for routing and switching modules. This high-performance routing software features IPv4/IPv6 versions of OSPF, BGP, RIP, and IS-IS routing protocols; MPLS, BGP-VPN, RSVP-TE, DiffServ, and CR-LDP switching and signaling protocols; Mobile IP, routing redundancy, multicast, virtual routing, Layer 2 VPN (draft Martini), and TCP/IP dual stack support. ZebOS software suites can be delivered as portable, platform-independent source code or server solutions.
