5/29/2003 - Yield Dynamics, Inc. announced that Cypress Semiconductor Corporation has purchased an expanded enterprise deployment of its Genesis yield management software.
Cypress, a Yield Dynamics customer since 2000, has been using the Genesis parametric and patented Yield Mine® data mining solution in its worldwide fabrication facilities in San Jose, California; Bloomington, Minnesota; Round Rock, Texas; and the Philippines. With this current purchase, Cypress has expanded its Genesis platform to include Yield Dynamics’ defect and memory analysis solutions for a true enterprise-wide solution.
These new capabilities build on Cypress’ existing seven-figure USD Genesis investment by enabling Cypress to pinpoint yield problems in its leading-edge SRAM memory products (including specialty memories). Yield Dynamics’ highly sophisticated pattern recognition algorithms quickly identify complex geometric patterns of electrical failures hidden among the millions of memory cells in Cypress’ SRAM. The software rapidly determines what manufacturing conditions and/or optical defects caused the memory cell to fail. Through rapid detection of root cause electrical failures by Yield Dynamics’ patented data mining software, the Genesis defect and memory analysis solution suites permit early corrective action in the fabrication process, resulting in higher yields and increased manufacturing effectiveness.
According to Peter Mitchell, Cypress’ Vice President of Wafer Manufacturing, “Cypress is expanding its Genesis deployment with this latest purchase because of the proven and significant effectiveness Yield Dynamics’ software has had in our worldwide manufacturing facilities. By maintaining our technology leadership position through using the most sophisticated commercial yield management tools and internal methodologies, we are able to achieve consistently high yields and deliver increased value to our customers and shareholders.”
Dr. Jonathan Buckheit, CEO of Yield Dynamics, commented, “Yield Dynamics’ software has established market leadership as the tool of choice for managing yields at the world’s most advanced semiconductor fabrication facilities, including the world’s largest IDM’s, foundries, consumer electronics, and fabless companies. We’re proud that Cypress, a worldwide leader in SRAM, has expanded its adoption of our platform to include our memory and defect analysis solutions. Through ongoing collaboration with the industry’s most advanced companies, such as Cypress, we are able to maintain our state-of-the art product position across our entire customer base.”
