5/28/2003 - Synopsys, Inc. (Nasdaq:SNPS), the world leader in integrated circuit (IC) design software, announced the program for the ninth annual Advanced Reticle Symposium (ARS). As the semiconductor industry's only forum dedicated to addressing the business and technology issues of advanced photomasks, ARS continues to draw broad support from across the semiconductor supply chain.
This year's ARS program will focus on the integration of the design to silicon processes necessary to facilitate production at 90-nanometer (nm) process nodes and beyond. The program will feature a keynote address by Dan Del Rosario, CEO of Photronics, and papers from semiconductor manufacturers, EDA vendors, photomask manufacturers, and semiconductor materials and equipment suppliers. Specific areas to be discussed include photomask economics, methods for addressing the photomask data explosion, manufacturing challenges and the role of the photomask within the semiconductor supply chain. Supporting sponsors for this year's symposium include Cadence, FEI, KLA-Tencor, Microlithography World Magazine, Photronics, Solid State Technology Magazine, SPIE and Ultratech Stepper.
"The traditional lines between design and manufacturing have become blurred with the adoption of subwavelength technologies," stated Atul Sharan, vice president of marketing for Silicon Engineering at Synopsys. "Advanced photomask production is one key area that requires increased cooperation between traditionally separate semiconductor disciplines, such as EDA, lithography groups and photomask suppliers. The involvement of such a broad cross-section of the supply chain stands to make this year's ARS a significant forum to enable this level of cooperation."
The program will also highlight an executive panel entitled, "The photomask in the semiconductor supply chain: how critical is cooperation?" The panel will include representatives from Photronics, Synopsys, Cadence Design Systems, KLA-Tencor and FEI.
ARS will take place on June 24, 2003 at the San Jose Convention Center from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. This is the first year Synopsys is serving as managing sponsor for the symposium. Additional information and online registration is available at http://www.synopsys.com/ars/.
