CATC is On-The-Go with New Mobile Hi-Speed USB Analyzer

5/28/2003 - Computer Access Technology Corporation (CATC) (Nasdaq: CATZ), a leading communications protocol expert company, announced the availability of USBMobile(TM) HS, the only analyzer in PC-card format that is able to detect, capture, decode, analyze and display all USB speeds (1.5 Mbps, 12 Mbps and 480 Mbps). In addition to the new Hi-Speed capture feature, USBMobile HS provides complete support of the On-The-Go (OTG) specification and mass storage decodes. This full-featured analyzer enables design engineers, technical support personnel and field application engineers to perform protocol debugging and verification testing virtually anywhere; extending beyond the lab environment to personal workstations and into the field.

USBMobile HS is a non-intrusive design verification system that accurately and reliably captures and analyzes all USB protocol traffic. Native OTG support automatically detects, decodes, and displays the HNP and SRP protocols, including VBus and Data Line pulsing, providing developers with a comprehensive view of OTG occurrences on the bus. USBMobile HS offers sophisticated and intuitive decoding for mass storage protocols, eliminating the need to look at bit-level data to determine USB Transfer behavior. Inquiry occurrences, read capacities and transport types are all decoded quickly and accurately.

"With the proliferation of USB devices and systems, more and more engineers need to carry analysis tools into the field. The small size of the USBMobile HS allows engineers the flexibility to work in the lab or in the field without compromising performance or functionality," said Jason Ziller, Intel technology initiatives manager and USB Implementers Forum chairman. "Once again, CATC proves to be a market leader whose advanced analysis products help accelerate the development and deployment of USB components and devices."

Since introducing its first USB bus and protocol analyzer in February 1996, CATC has continued to expand and enhance its product offerings, helping customers bring to market thousands of USB components and devices. The CATC USB product suite includes a range of USB 1.1 and USB 2.0 protocol analyzers and traffic generators, USB 1.1 and USB 2.0 production testers and USB to Ethernet adapters.

"Last year CATC responded to the call for a mobile USB analyzer for use by field application engineers to troubleshoot and analyze system behavior. This second generation mobile product delivers the added functionality of Hi-Speed capture and decode, as we continue to improve our products with features that our customers request," stated Mark Abbas, USB product marketing manager for CATC.

Like all CATC products, the USBMobile HS utilizes the powerful CATC Trace(TM) expert analysis software to process, decode and analyze captured USB traffic. The CATC Trace embeds deep understanding of the USB protocol hierarchy and intricacies and presents this knowledge to the user in a colorful, intuitive and easy to use graphical display, allowing customers to quickly discover and correct persistent and intermittent errors and flaws in product designs.

CATC's USBMobile HS Bus and Protocol Analyzer is available now at a unit price of $13,950. For further information, please contact CATC or its worldwide network of distribution partners.
