5/23/2003 - Marimba, Inc. (Nasdaq: MRBA), the Software Change Management Company, announced that npower, a leading UK electricity and gas supplier, is deploying Marimba's Desktop/Mobile Management products across its three companies, npower, npower Yorkshire Electricity, and npower Northern Electric. Marimba's technology will manage the software assets for npower's 8,500 users, including desktops and laptops.
Prior to the selection of Marimba, npower was using three different software management vendors to distribute its software. Marimba was benchmarked against the incumbent software, as well as a number of other leading software distribution packages.
npower will benefit from Marimba's Desktop/Mobile Management products by centralized software management, reduced administrative and support costs associated with desktop management, and the ability of its mobile users to seamlessly receive and upload daily application updates. Marimba will also help npower to more accurately manage inventory, security patch distribution, automate OS migrations, and monitor license compliance.
