5/19/2003 - Reactive Systems, Inc. (RSI), a leading provider of innovative tools and services for embedded-software design automation (ESDA), was honored Wednesday night at the Seventh Annual Long Island Software Achievement Awards (LISA) receiving an award for outstanding achievement in the Software Development category.
RSI's Reactis tool suite, which enables users to generate thorough yet compact test suites from models of software given in The MathWorks, Inc.'s market-leading Simulink® / Stateflow® notations, walked away with the "best in category" honors at the awards dinner held on May 6th at the Long Island Technology Center in Great River, NY. The event that was attended by more than 600 Long Island software developers and industry leaders.
"It is really great to be recognized by our peers for the work we're doing to make a technology with Long Island roots available to software developers around the world" said RSI Chief Technology Officer Steve Sims, who accepted the award on behalf of RSI; "We were thrilled that Reactis made it into the final round, and walking away with the award is a real honor."
The LISA awards were created in 1996 by the Long Island Software and Technology Network (LISTnet) ( www.listnet.org) to draw attention to the strength and diversity of the growing software industry on Long Island. Corporate sponsors include Computer Associates, Microsoft, Cisco Systems, and JP Morgan Chase. Approximately one hundred software products were submitted for consideration for this year's awards and were narrowed down to a group of 27 finalists and 10 overall winners by the staff of Penton Media, publishers of Windows & .NET Magazine.
The Reactis tool suite enables users to deploy model-based software testing to dramatically reduce the costs of testing embedded control software. Reactis Tester generates thorough yet compact test suites from models of software given in The MathWorks, Inc.'s market-leading Simulink® / Stateflow® notations. The test suites exercise large portions of the software under test while avoiding redundancy, thereby maximizing the probability of finding defects within the time available for testing. The generated tests store model-generated outputs as well as inputs so that Tester-generated test harnesses can automatically check the correctness of source code implementations of models. Reactis Simulator enables users to visualize the results of executing tests produced by Reactis Tester. The tool also enables users to fine-tune Tester-generated test suites. Reactis runs on the Microsoft Windows and Linux platforms. Reactis is priced at US $5000 per year per concurrent license. Free 30-day evaluation licenses are available.
RSI is headquartered in Falls Church, VA, with an office in Port Jefferson, NY. Founded in 1999 by researchers at the State University of New York at Stony Brook and the Naval Research Laboratory in Washington, DC, the company develops and sells embedded-software design automation tools. The technology underpinning Reactis, the company's flagship tool suite, was developed with the help of over $10 million in federal basic research funding obtained by the company founders.
