Memec Offers Unique Low-Cost Evaluation Board for Oki's Microcontroller

5/16/2003 - Oki Semiconductor, a leading technology partner for the new era of digital communications and convergence, announced a pioneering agreement with Unique Memec and Memec Design to create and offer a low-cost evaluation board for Oki's ML674000 advantage microcontrollerTM, which is an ARM® core-based 32-bit microcontroller for general purpose applications. This partnership emphasizes Oki's strategic direction to offer inexpensive development tools for its growing line of advantage microcontrollers from leading distributors.

The ML674000 is part of Oki's extensive and growing family of advantage microcontrollers designed to provide developers with a low cost of entry into 32-bit ARM technology. As part of this effort, Oki and its partners are providing customers with an array of affordable development tools that improve time to market and reduce development costs. Oki, Unique Memec and Memec Design will create evaluation boards for other Oki advantage microcontrollers in the coming months to assist customers in testing Oki's ARM core-based solutions.

Unique Memec and Oki will both sell the evaluation board and the ML674000 advantage microcontroller to customers in North America and abroad. The ML674000 is aimed at industrial control, security/surveillance systems, instrumentation, games, toys, digital players and other application areas.

The RealView Developer Kit for Oki's ML674000 advantage microcontroller is based on the ARM RealView development solution components, and specifically targeted to Oki's advanced microcontroller product requirements. The RealView Developer Kit for Oki comprises ARM7TM family-based compilation tools, a powerful GUI-based debugger, and the ARM RealView ICE Micro Edition product, providing JTAG run control through a standard 8 MHz JTAG TAP at data rates of 100 KB/second.
