5/14/2003 - Adaptec, Inc. (NASDAQ: ADPT), a leading supplier of desktop-PC solutions for connectivity, storage and multimedia, announced the availability of DuoConnect for Notebooks, a combination FireWire/1394 - USB 2.0 card for laptop computers.

DuoConnect for Notebooks lets consumers plug in one card, which includes one FireWire/1394 and two USB 2.0 ports, to attach multiple peripherals and consumer-electronic devices to their notebook computers. The complete solution includes digital-editing/disk-burning software, which enables users to manage and enjoy digital content the way they want.

DuoConnect for Notebooks
DuoConnect for Notebooks is a combination FireWire/1394 and USB 2.0 card for PC laptops. The card has one FireWire/1394 port and two USB 2.0 ports with USB 1.1 backward compatibility. Digital video-editing/disk-burning software and Adaptec USB 2.0 drivers for Microsoft Windows 98SE, Me and 2000 are also included. The DuoConnect for Notebooks FireWire/1394 port is OHCI-compliant.
Adaptec DuoConnect for Notebooks is available at select retail stores, including CompUSA, Fry's and MicroCenter, as well as the Adaptec Web site at www.adaptec.com at an MSRP of $129.99, which includes a five-year warranty.
