5/12/2003 - Performance Technologies (Nasdaq NM: PTIX), a leader in unified systems design for the communications, military and commercial markets, announced enhancements to its IPnexusTM 5500 Signaling Blade that will provide dramatic scalability in its SS7 capabilities. The new features will allow for onboard protocol conversion as well as the ability to host upper signaling layers and run additional wireless and wireline applications directly on the blade.
The IPnexus 5500 Signaling Blade is a full-featured, PICMG® 2.16-compliant “system in a slot” that provides OEMs with all the functional capabilities needed to front end any application requiring access to the SS7 network. The IPnexus Blade, with its newly-added mezzanine processor capabilities, incorporates Performance Technologies’ robust SS7 stack on top of the company’s NexusWareTM development environment to provide customers with a complete SS7 platform. The IPnexus Blade incorporates the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) Signaling Transport Group’s (SIGTRAN) suite of protocols to ensure reliability, and it supports most variations of TDM or IP access.
“Our embedded signaling gateway offers customers much greater scalability for softswitches, GSM-based wireless and wireline routing and application connectivity with the SS7 network,” said Jason Lawlor, product manager for Performance Technologies. “The IPnexus 5500 Signaling Blade leverages the powerful PICMG 2.16 specification with our industry-leading SS7 expertise to give customers a unique offering that extends our already impressive portfolio of packet-based embedded products.”
The enhanced IPnexus 5500 Signaling Blade is available immediately.
