5/9/2003 - Compuware Corporation (NASDAQ: CPWR) announced at the Microsoft WinHEC 2003 Conference (booth #809/811) that it is demonstrating the upcoming new version of its device driver development suite. Compuware DriverStudio 3.0 will offer device driver developers a revolutionary driver development environment that integrates with the Microsoft Visual Studio .NET IDE as well as with Visual Studio 6.
Bringing dramatic software enhancements and a richer user experience, DriverWorkbench provides seamless integration of Visual SoftICE with DriverStudio tools such as BoundsChecker Driver Edition, TrueTime Driver Edition and TrueCoverage Driver Edition for developers using Visual Studio, allowing them to build device drivers more quickly and easily. By being able to move from one tool to the other without leaving the development environment, driver developers can build high-quality device drivers more efficiently.
"The need for new and updated device drivers will increase as hardware devices and operating systems rapidly develop and change, " said Shari Zedeck, Director of Product Management for the Compuware DevPartner and DriverStudio product families. "Developers will need a comprehensive suite of device driver development tools to quickly and easily meet the time-to-market and quality challenges that come with driver development. With DriverStudio 3.0, driver developers can write, debug, test and fine-tune quality driver code more efficiently, while accelerating the software development life cycle."
Visual SoftICE becomes a new member of the SoftICE family as another Compuware flagship debugger in DriverStudio 3.0. Visual SoftICE is a two-machine debugger with a multiple-window, configurable and graphical user interface that uses a 32-bit master machine to debug one or more 32-bit or 64-bit target machines. Also new in DriverStudio 3.0, SoftICE now allows users to modify data directly in the watch and locals windows through inline editing. Other significant new features have been integrated into the driver editions of BoundsChecker, TrueTime and TrueCoverage as well.
DriverStudio 3.0 is currently in beta and is scheduled to officially debut later this fiscal year.
