Advantech Revenue Increases to Over $22 Million for April 2003

5/9/2003 - Advantech Co., Ltd., the leading global ePlatform service provider, reported that its April global revenue exceeded US $22 Million. This represents an 8% increase over the previous months sales of $20.4 Million, and a 17% increase over the corresponding 2002 period. The accumulated Net Sales for this past quarter, from January through April 2003, is approximately NT$82 Million.

Network Computing Group made a significant contribution to April's global sales, with a revenue increase of 30% over last year. The US and China markets both demonstrated strong sales performance, and Japan demonstrated the most aggressive growth among the 6 overall regions that the company operates in. In terms of product, the IPC and Network Appliance lines made significant contributions to the growth engine.

Industrial Automation Group also showed a 33% increase over last year. The principle revenue contributions were from the US and China markets. The growth for the US market in April reached 77% over the corresponding 2002 period. The main product lines for shipment are Industrial Communications and Touch Panel Computers. The business group recently landed a major Machinery Automation ODM order from a Taiwanese client.

Embedded Computing Group achieved a growth of 12% over last year. The revenue was primarily generated from the US, European and Japanese markets. Meanwhile, both Japan and South Asia Pacific markets all recorded significant growth of over 50% from the previous year. The products shipped in April were SOM (System-on-Module) and DTOS (Design-to-Order Service).

Advantech will continue to develop Dual headquarters in Taiwan and China, with trusted brand names to strengthen marketing initiatives in International markets. In addition, Advantech will aggressively cultivate opportunities in emerging territories like East Europe, South Europe, South America, and Russia. Advantech will also further enhance R&D technology in SoC (System-on-Chip), DVR and RISC-based systems to secure the leading position of ePlatform Service Provider.
