Philips ARM7TDMI-S Core Microcontroller Supported by Ashling Tools

5/5/2003 - Ashling Microsystems introduced a full set of development and debug tools for Philips' new LPC210x Microcontrollers, based on the ARM7TDMI-S core.

Developed under Ashling's development support agreement with the semiconductors division of Philips, the new Ashling toolset, available now, includes an Evaluation Board with built-in JTAG debugger, a USB-hosted JTAG emulator and a real-time trace system, together with Ashling's flagship "PathFinder" Source Debugger.

Commenting on the agreement, Michael Healy, CEO of Ashling Microsystems, Inc., in Sunnyvale, California, said "By working closely with Philips from the inception of the LPC2100 microcontroller architecture, Ashling has ensured that users of Philips' new ARM7-based embedded controllers can utilize the Ashling toolset to get their products to market quickly and reliably. The unprecedented feature-set offered by the Ashling ASK-2100 Evaluation and Debugging Kit allows users to get started with LPC2100 development right away."

By applying Ashling's powerful real-time debug technology, the Ashling tools design team will ensure that users of the new architecture can benefit from a powerful and flexible development and debug toolset for the semiconductor industry's first 32-bit ARM7TDMI-STM processor core microcontrollers utilizing Philips' 0.18 micron CMOS embedded Flash process.

Ashling's new range of products for the Philips LPC2100 embedded microcontroller family features the low-cost ASK-2100 Evaluation Kit, which includes a full-function Evaluation Board for the LPC2106 device, an on-board JTAG EmbeddedICETM Emulator with a USB link to the host PC, Ashling's "PathFinder" Source Debugger, a Flash Programmer system for the LPC210x on-chip flash memory, Ashling's "AsIDE" Integrated Development Environment and the GNU GCC Compiler for the ARMTM architecture. In addition, Ashling is offering a Networked JTAG Emulator for the LPC210x family, including a Real-Time Trace system.
