5/5/2003 - Xilinx, Inc. (NASDAQ: XLNX) announced that Intel Corporation is a key sponsor of Programmable World 2003. Intel joins a growing list of industry leaders sponsoring Programmable World 2003 - a collaborative industry event that will provide engineers with in-depth technical training on the multi-faceted technologies revolutionizing electronic systems design. Bala Cadambi, PCI Express Initiative manager at Intel, will participate in the panel session, "What's Required to Make High-Speed Serial Design a Reality?" addressing the opportunities and challenges of designing next-generation multi-gigabit systems at speeds ranging from 1Gbps to10Gbps and beyond. The panel will be held on May 6, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. PST at the San Jose Convention Center and is being simulcast to 14 additional cities in North America. For complete event and registration information, visit www.xilinx.com/pw2003.
"Programmable World 2003 is a powerful opportunity for design engineers to learn more about the evolutionary changes taking place in the field of high speed serial I/O," said Tim Parker, technology initiatives at Intel Communications Group. "Designers interested in the latest technology aimed at balancing cost, performance, compatibility and advanced features necessary for communications, computing and embedded platforms, will gain new insight into using programmable technology to implement new connectivity standards, such as PCI Express."
Intel's sponsorship is a natural extension of the two companies' ongoing collaboration to drive adoption of leading-edge serial connectivity solutions. Specifically, the companies have been working together to promote the PCI Express specification, a modular, high-speed serial chip-to-chip interconnect technology. Last July, by working with Intel and leveraging the industry's highest performance logic fabric and multi-gigabit transceivers of the Xilinx Virtex-II Pro FPGAs, Xilinx announced the world's first PCI Express solution, enabling the instant deployment of PCI Express-based systems on the day the specification was ratified. Additionally, Xilinx works closely with Intel to promote and demonstrate the PCI Express specification through active participation in the Intel Communication Alliance and Intel Developer's Forum.
"We are pleased to welcome Intel as a sponsor of Programmable World 2003," said Babak Hedayati, senior director of Product Solutions Marketing at Xilinx. "Through Programmable World 2003, Xilinx and Intel will decrease time to knowledge for thousands of system designers worldwide who are interested in learning about high-speed serial interface applications enabled by PCI Express and the Virtex-II Pro product line from Xilinx."
About Programmable World 2003
Programmable World 2003 is a collaborative industry forum presented by IBM, Agilent, Cadence, and Xilinx, and sponsored by Mentor Graphics, Texas Instruments, Intel, and Wind River Systems, as well as Synplicity, Synopsys, Nallatech, The MathWorks, Celoxica, Altium, and 14 other sponsors. At this free industry event, engineers, system architects, and engineering manager will receive solutions oriented, technical sessions on the multi-faceted technologies and design methodologies revolutionizing electronic systems design. Last year, over 8,000 engineers attended Programmable World 2002 - over 10,000 engineers are expected to participate in this year's program.
